Jennifer heard his car screech to a halt. She ran out, hopped in and before he could say a word she blurted out, "Are you a sadist, Dorian?"
"Whoa. Jennifer, What's got into you?"
"Just answer the question. Either you are or you're not."
Finally, after what seemed like forever, he turned to face her. His eyes bored into her. The look in them was odd and contradictory. "No, I'm not." He sounded as if he were not only trying to convince her, but himself as well.
"Are you sure? Just what have you done in those private rooms at e.Vampire, Dorian?"
He sighed. "I've not been in the dungeons in a long time, even before you."
"What the fuck, Dorian? did you just call them dungeons? Do you think I'm so naive that I don't what that is?"
Without word, he started the Ferrari.
"Where are we going?"
"To e.Vampire. I'll show you the rooms. All I ask is that you reserve judgement until you listen to what I have to say before, during and after you've seen them."
"I'm not sure I trust you at all right now!"
"You think I'm going to hurt you, don't you?" he asked solemnly.
"I don't know what to think!" A scene flashed in her mind of Jack, the last guy she'd dated and his fun factory. "I wouldn't hurt you unless you want me to," he'd said. The expression on his face and the tone of his voice told her that he wanted her to say, yes, I want you to hurt me.
"What if I wanted you to hurt me? Would you?" She asked Dorian.
"No, I wouldn't," he said gently.
"Why not?"
"The only reason you'd ask me to hurt you is because you think it's what I want and need. Neither is true."
